Frequently Asked Questions

11/26/2001 | By Will Brannon

There is a lot to know about any one ministry, especially interent ministries that are a dime a dozen. I compiled this FAQ to make a little bit more information available in addition to the What is Fearless Witness? page.

1 Who are you?
2 Who are some of your favorite teachers?
3 Is Fearless Witness only about evangelism?
Four What Bible translation do you use?

1 Who are you?

No one special. My name is Will Brannon. I am the creator, designer, and writer for FearlessWitness.com. The Lord graciously saved me in 1999, and I began the website in 2007. Fearless Witness originally started because my family would go on a vacation each year to Ocean City, Maryland. At night, my dad and I would go out on the boardwalk and talk to as many people as we could find about Jesus. One night, after we finished witnessing, I decided to write down some of our stories, and this website was born.
I love reading. That includes Scripture, theology, worldviews, evangelism, apologetics, and anything else I can get my hands on.

I have had the privilege of teaching evangelism to both youth groups and adults. In July 2008, I had the awesome experience of participating in a Living Waters/Way of the Master Ambassador’s Academy in Los Angeles. During that time, I soaked in every bit of wisdom I could from some of the best evangelists in the country. I also had the opportunity to hands out gospel tracts, talk to people one-on-one, and open-air preach with my brothers and sisters in Christ.

I did not start this website because I am qualified to teach about evangelism, or because I am anything special. I am not. I am simply a sinner saved by grace. I love Jesus. He is my savior, redeemer, reconciler, propitiation, gift righteousness, and friend. And if through something you read on this site, you come to love Him more, than I praise God He is somehow using this sinner for His glory.

I am currently a student at Cedarville University, majoring in Technical and Professional Communication, and a double minor in Bible and Greek. After completing my undergraduate degree in 2012, I will be attending Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

1 Who are some of your favorite teachers?

I would not be surprised if you have never seen this question in an FAQ, so let me begin by saying why I chose to put it here. We live in a confused world, and the Church is not immune. Colossians 2:8 says, “See to it that no one takes captive by empty philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.” Numerous ministries and leaders follow the teaching of men who blatantly fall into this Colossians 2 territory. Scripture clearly instructs us to avoid such teachers (2 Timothy 2:14-16).

For you to avoid bad teachers, you need to know what they teach. And you can tell what someone teaches by who they choose to learn from. For example, if somebody says they love Brian McLaren and Dough Pagitt, you can confidently assume they do not preach penal substitutionary atonement (the doctrine that Jesus died to atone for the sins of His people) as essential doctrine.

I am very thankful for a number of godly, wise men I have the privilege of studying and learning from. Some of these teachers include: John Macarthur, John Piper, Mark Dever, Todd Friel, Ray Comfort, and Ken Ham. I am a constant student of Charles Spurgeon. Finally, I enjoy reading blogs by Justin Taylor, Phil Johnson, and the gang over at Team Pyro.

1 Is Fearless Witness only about evangelism?

When I first started the website in 2007, the content was purely evangelism. As time has gone on, I have written about a broader set of topics.

The tagline for the site is three fold: 1) Trusting in 2) Contending for, and 3) Preaching about. You cannot preach the gospel if you do not understand what the gospel is (trusting in it), and part of spreading the gospel is making sure you are spreading the biblical gospel (contending for).

So, all of the content aims to hit one of those three goals: to encourage Christians to trust in the gospel, to urge Christians to contend for the gospel, or to challenge Christians to preach the gospel. To reach this goal, articles cover everything from systematic theology and evangelism to false teaching, worldviews, and culture.

1 What Bible translation do you use?

Almost all of Bible references used on the site are NASB. I also read the ESV, so every now and then I will quote from the ESV as well.
